Health Psychologists specialize in working with individuals with medical and stress related conditions.
To call myself a Health Psychologist, I was required to complete extensive pre and post-doctoral education and training regarding how these conditions influence a person physically and psychologically.
Health Psychologists are specifically trained to help you to improve your health, reduce symptoms of illness, prevent illness, better manage stress and improve your quality of life. Most Health Psychologists are trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and utilize complimentary tools such as relaxation techniques. Some, like me, are also trained in Biofeedback, another tool that helps you to better manage physiological reactivity to stress and illness.
The following are just a few of the medical conditions that are responsive to these types of interventions:
Chronic Pain Tension and Migraine Headache TMJ and Jaw Pain Insomnia and Sleep Disorders Hypertension (High Blood Pressure Cardiac Rehabilitation Diabetes Asthma Cancer Obesity
My clients typically experience improvements in many of the following areas:
→ Less pain and discomfort → Lower blood pressure → Improved quality and quantity of sleep → Stronger immune system and shorter recovery times → Increased productivity → Increase energy → Improved quality of life → Increased sense of control → Improved mood including less depression and anxiety Do you have a medical or stress related condition that's effecting your quality of life?
